We all have this little problem of Windows 7 screwing up our RAM capacity.
This happened to me when i got my new computer. I had installed Windows 7 ultimate and checked out my hardware configuration in task manager. When i checked out resource manager, i was quite shocked to find out that about 2070 GB of my RAM was reserved for hardware. This was a huge waste of RAM as they couldn't be alloted for any other purpose.
And i couldn't find out a way to get those wasted RAM.
After some trial and error i found out a method to get that wasted ram.
This works only if u have RAM combinations. For example if you have 2 2GB RAM.
They key is the combination of placing the RAM in the slots.
I found out that by keeping RAM1 in slot 1 and RAM2 in slot 2 the hardware RAM allocation was above 2GB.
But when i placed in First and Third slot the Reserved RAM space was 1065MB. I kept it this way so that my graphic card got an additional boost of memory.
But the third combination is First and Last slot. This way u reserve only about 27MB. Which is great if u require all of your RAM for your application.
I found out that buying smaller RAM cards of 2GB each and having a combination is much more efficient that having a 4 GB. The motherboard available in todays market are unable to unlock the full memory of RAM available. And we have high hopes that Windows 8 has much higher RAM support that Windows 7 64 bits.
We have got information that Windows 8 actually runs on a 128 bit platform. Which will hugely increase the performance of the hardware connected.
Well this is a simple way of fixing your Reserve RAM quantity that i found. If you read this and found it to be working please leave a reply...
