Increasing GPU performance: Part II

Download them!

Remember my earlier post on increasing GPU performance?
Well i got some more of those in this new post. This time its way more than just updating drivers and stuff. It more of hardware over-clocking.

While i was hunting for programs to increase the computer performance i stumbled on some great software that could just do the trick to squeeze the extra juice out of your rig.

Read more right here... [Click the heading]

Game booster:

This little bad boy has a lot of tricks up its sleeves. This one software may answer your prayers to games getting stuck, slow loading, poor refresh rate, etc etc....
Game driver: this tab checks your graphic card details and prompts you to download the latest driver, not just for your graphic card but also for your network and your audio devices.
Game Defrag: this tab defragments the gaming directories so that your games load much faster. something very similar to how you defragment your harddisk to make windows load faster.
This big daddy of all service is the main service itself. Game booster slide key. Something like the ones you find on apple device..just slide this and the software shuts down some of the main services not necessary so that every computing space in your CPU and GPU processors are utilizes for your beloved game.

To download this MOAGU [Mother Of All Gaming Utilities] go to my download tab and get the gaming package.

GPU Overclocking:
[Doing this is at your own risk. I am in no way responsible for the damage done due to lack of knowledge or experience in doing the mentioned operations. Try only if you are absolutely sure..]
There are many overclocking softwares available to increase your GPU performance.
Some of the most popular ones are
RivaTuner - nVidia and ATI
MSI Afterburners - nVidia and ATI
ATI Tray Tools - ATI
nTunes - nVidia
Catalyst
An example of such a software is shown below. This is the one i personally run on my laptop.
NVidia cards:

nTune:

This is the nTune software overclocking utility from nVidia.
In case you have installed an nVidia card, you may use this software to increase the GPU performance. However keep in mind that in case you overclock from BIOS, roll back is difficult and you lose the guarantee on your graphic card. I haven't tried the BIOS version of over-clocking as i don't wanna screw up my system. So i have taken the safer detour of using a software utility. This software as shown above has control of three main setting of your GPU. Core clock, Memory clock, Shader clock. It is very important that you keep the temperature in mind. They can get pretty hot and you don't want to melt your GPU processor unit.

Step 1: Increase the core clocks in small steps. And test the computer by playing your favourite game on it. Till the system crashes or you start seeing crappy colors on your screen.
In case your computer refuses to boot because you have done a tad too much try roll back by going to BIOS and loading fail-safe defaults.

There is nothing to worry as in a software the numbers don't get registered unless you save it and gets reset to the stock values when you restart.

Step 2: Increase the memory clock in small steps and stress test like i told earlier.
Once you are happy with the performance you may save the settings and continue.

In softwares like MSI Afterburners you can create profiles so that you can change the overclock setting to your needs. Like if you have it on a laptop you may have a profile which will control the GPU performance thus giving you more battery life.

ATI cards:

As shown in the picture, you may change the same attributes and try to overclock your GPU to your wish.

Follow the steps i have mentioned earlier.
