And then there was the day you got your new Graphic card... Maybe a GT series just to wake up the next day to find out that GTS is better than GT.
That sucks.. But its not always the true story. If u make a good choice your graphic card will be useful for years...
These are some simple steps:
1. Most important of all - check for the memory type. Latest GPU comes with DDR5 and GDDR5 memory modules. They are anyday better than DDR3 which come at a cheaper rate. A 512MB DDR5 can outperform a DDR3 1 GB anyday.
2. Factory overclocking: It is a usual gimmick the GPU manufacturers use for selling at a higher price. It is actually useless as it increases the fps only by a few numbers. And you can overclock it yourself using their control centre or bios
3. Nvidia or ATI: this choice is left to you..its all about loyalty though both are equally matched. Where Nvidia has CUDA technology and physix technology ATI has Eyefinity and higher Direct x support. They also come with GDDR5 module. And most motherboards support crossfire which is useful for upgrading. however Nvidia's same segment graphic cards support gaming in a much better way and are more popular in the gaming industry. It's a battle like Intel and AMD.
4. Cooling: This is a very important aspect while buying your GPU. A better cooling means you dont have to worry much about overclocking. easiest way is to see the size of the heat-sink[ The aluminium plates]. Asus GPU's come with designer heat-sink that channel airflow for maximum cooling and also looks great[usually a F1 car]
5. Feature:Latest LCD screens come with HDMI connectivity. Choosing a graphic card with such features are important to stay with the current market.
6. Guarantee period: very important.
7. 2 years: We all gotta face it but a typical graphic card is useful only for 2 years. So go for motherboards with ATI crossfire or Nvidia SLI features. For multiple connectivity.
