1. Update drivers...
These is a simple system some of you are unaware of. Your GPU manufacturer creates driver software that connect the GPU processors with your software [ Games and video softwares, etc]
Follow these steps to update:

1. Go to
Nvidia home page.

The company regularly updates driver softwares which unlocks unused stream processors and increase your GPU processing capacity. Very usefull for playing new games. Go to the Download tab in the site.
2. Selecting the driver.
In this page you have to enter the card details like series number and OS type. Easy stuff. you can get the card details from dxdiag [goto run-> dxdiag-> display tab]
3. Downloading:
All you have to do now is just click on the download tab.!!!
4. Installing.
Open the .exe file that you downloaded and run it. It will get updated automatically.

b. In case you are using an ATI card dont worry, The same can be done...

After indentifying your card click ok and go to the download files window where you can select the driver you want. Displayed from the latest first. Explained in this picture..
Download this file and install in your computer and restart. Your Grpahic card should run much better than earlier.
Updating the graphic card driver is important as it improves the hardware compatibility to windows and thus you can get more juice out of your hardware.
2. Remove anti-aliasing and anisotropic filters. The options are present it the control panel that you get with the driver software. Removing these processes take a load off your graphic card.
3. Reduce sreen resolution and screen refresh rate. This has to be done if your GPU is really really old. Like a last moment measure. Your screen wont look that pretty as it used to but again it will take a load off your GPU.
4. Before starting the game close all unwanted program, internet connection [nforce drivers are involved] firewalls, etc. This too is done if you have a really sad ass graphic card.
